Re: Tool for tinkering with old cameras.. and some other things

They are to expand or compress c-rings into a groove on a shaft, internally or externally.
If you have ever tried to install a ring without them, you know they are the right tool
for the job.....

Re: Tool for tinkering with old cameras.. and some other things

I still have a set similar to these left over from my working days, internal and external
c-ring pliers. Although may not be delicate enough for cameras, but I bet they would get your cap loose...... :D

Very nice looking old shotgun. When I first looked at Duncan's original post, the word Birmingham stuck in my head and I thought what a cool post-Civil War shotgun made in Alabama........... And then it dawned on me...... English Side by Side.....duh. Guess I need to read slower and not jump...

Re: Repro 42 VKT M39 SOV

Just checked on the old ParallaxBill's site where Darrell sold them, no activity from Darrell for many years. Too bad, I wanted them for my 91/30 and M38, so I emailed him a couple of times many years ago and he said he would let me know, if and when he started making them again. Never heard back.....

Question about 1858 Remington replica nipples..... The nipple threads on mine doesn't seem to
be metric 6 or SAE 1/4-28 NF.....what are other possibilities???

Re: Euroarms Rogers & Spencer

Those are really nice looking pistols, I especially like the extra room behind the trigger guard that my
Remington lacks. Mine is a 1972 model by Armi San Paolo, which was later bought out by Euroarms.
Are both of your guns of Italian origin?

Re: Armi San Paolo Remington 1858 New Army

Am using #11, what the Lyman book and owners manual says. But they are Remington Magnum caps because I read that the Pyrodex pellets are harder to set off than loose powder and the magnum caps will work. And they worked great, never a miss....... Still have my old .zzn hat too..... :D .

Re: Armi San Paolo Remington 1858 New Army

Went to the woods to shoot yesterday, had a great time with my son and 2 of his friends. We all took rifles and pistols, it was the usual bunch of 5.56 and 7.62 ARs and the pistols in 9mm, .40, and .45........... I took my .44 cap & ball pistol. It is a blast to shoot and I found out how dirty ...

Re: RANGE SCRAP........

When I worked at a large paper mill back in the '70s, we had a "lead shop" that took care of all the lead pipes, being a pipefitter I worked with them a lot. Did a lot of work with lead and IIRC, most other metal is lighter that lead and will float to the top. And lead melts at a lower po...

Re: 1911 Reminder in local online news

I agree, $850 seems like a lot for a wall hanger..... Although the prices for useable pistols ($950 & $1050) doesn't seem too far out of line for real military 1911s that I have seen advertised online. "To purchase the weapons you must be a U.S. citizen, a member of a CMP affiliate...

Those of us with less ambition use a crock pot..... ;) Did one of those last Monday, quite tasty and tender. Re: Armi San Paolo Remington 1858 New Army

I bought a box of the .451 balls, a box of Pyrodex 30 grain pellets, and a tin of Remington
Magnum caps. The caps were recommended for use with the pellets.
All I need now is a chance to go try it........

I just sat the balls into the cylinder, no pressure, they fell out when I turned it over.
But I have no idea how far they should go in.

Re: Armi San Paolo Remington 1858 New Army

Has anyone tried the Hodgdon Pyrodex pellets, they come in 30 grain for the 44 cal pistol. The 30 grain seems to be what is used in my style pistol, and it sounds like they would be a lot easier to deal with than the powder. I know the purists will think that is cheating, but that's not the experie...

I knew I could count on you guys for tips and how-to's. Any suggestions for a nipple wrench that won't bend the first time it's used, that seems to be an ongoing problem, from what I've read. I now have the Lyman and Fadala books on the way, maybe I can learn enough from them and from here, so I do...
