Re: Armi San Paolo Remington 1858 New Army

I bought a box of the .451 balls, a box of Pyrodex 30 grain pellets, and a tin of Remington
Magnum caps. The caps were recommended for use with the pellets.
All I need now is a chance to go try it........

Re: Armi San Paolo Remington 1858 New Army

I just sat the balls into the cylinder, no pressure, they fell out when I turned it over.
But I have no idea how far they should go in.

Re: Armi San Paolo Remington 1858 New Army

Has anyone tried the Hodgdon Pyrodex pellets, they come in 30 grain for the 44 cal pistol. The 30 grain seems to be what is used in my style pistol, and it sounds like they would be a lot easier to deal with than the powder. I know the purists will think that is cheating, but that's not the experie...

Re: Armi San Paolo Remington 1858 New Army

I knew I could count on you guys for tips and how-to's. Any suggestions for a nipple wrench that won't bend the first time it's used, that seems to be an ongoing problem, from what I've read. I now have the Lyman and Fadala books on the way, maybe I can learn enough from them and from here, so I do...

Armi San Paolo Remington 1858 New Army

Ok..yes... I did what I never thought I would do.... buy a black powder pistol. It's a Lyman Remington New Army 1858 44 cal. reproduction made in Italy in 1973 by Armi San Paolo (later Euroarms). As you can see in the photos it came with holster and belt, some balls and caps, felt plug thingies, po...

Is there some way to do that with the bolt open, what happens when they want to look down the bore?
You will be cutting a lot of them off and replacing them again.....maybe??
Good luck this weekend, expecting a full report later........

Re: THE FIRST WORLD WAR as reported in the daily news

On the front page about the cavalry, there is an article about, "Destroyer ready for service in 70 days". The name of the destroyer is USS Ward DD-139, the same ship that fired the first shots of WWII outside Pearl Harbor on the morning of Dec 7th, 1941. It shot at and sunk a Jap 2-man mi...

You forgot the shredded cheese, and instead of salsa use pico de gallo. Steak is always better than chicken, but that's just my opinion. Ate this all the time in AZ, in restaurants they brought the meat and veggie mix on a sizzling steel platter in a wood holder...... so good. Next try making quesa...

As I said in a previous post, have mostly called them side cutters, but also dikes or diagonal cutters.
Some just call them wire cutters, I guess because that's what they are.........

Re: I put a deposit on my first gun show table.

Do you really need to pull the cable ties that tight? Pull them hand tight and use a small pair of sidecutters/dikes/diagonal cutters to remove them. Take a pair with you as your red tool doesn't appear to have a cutter built in. Remember that the tighter you pull them, the harder they are to cut. ...

You remember the fire mission procedures a lot better than I do.....
If we didn't want to wait for ARVN and GVN (civilian) clearance for a fire mission, would have
someone stand back and fire M-16 in air and say we were in contact. Of course we always
got US clearance.

I was kidding of course. There are some soccer fans in the US, we actually have a professional
soccer league here in the US with 23 teams, there is a pro team near here, the Seattle Sounders FC.
I haven't seen a game since my kids played in grade school.
