Re: THE FIRST WORLD WAR as reported in the daily news

Uncle Sam plans to take good care of the soldiers returning with war caused physical problems. What else could a soldier want? Well about the time of the Depression the veterans wanted to be compensated for the wages they would have made while being paid soldiers pay. And Congress said ok......in 19...

Nice. The smallest quality pocket camera of the 1970's. The spy and street camera. Recently I bid on a Konica C35EF.... made famous as the Andy Warhol pocket camera because he is said to have had several of them and took photos at gatherings of his "in crowd" and freaky friends. Didn't win...

Cool. Great home defense gun if you don't mind destroying the furniture while taking care of the bad guys.

I love a pump. The ka..chunk as you rack the slide gives the shooter courage and scares the crap out of the bad guy.

Re: THE FIRST WORLD WAR as reported in the daily news

On the same page of a New York newspaper we get a story about American Irish troops and a photo about "colored" troops. The one about training Irish Americans in Ireland had to have been bogus on the face of it but showed the sub set that Irish background Americans were assumed to be in. B...

Hard to believe a movie star guy would say that about a President and on top of that an audience full of Broadway entertainers rise up in a standing ovation. What would have happened a few years back and at the same event if somebody like De-Nero came on stage and said the same thing about Obama? Pr...

A hundred years ago today the Germans continued their offensive and the allies continued to hold the line. The only problem is that the line doesn't ever seem to move much. The great German break out to Paris doesn't happen...in this war part one. https://chroniclingamerica.loc.gov/lccn/sn83045433/1...

Interesting photos. What struck me is that the rifles seem to be "stacked" in twos. I'd have thought there would be at least three. Another thing is that K98K Mausers don't seem to come with a stacking swivel or other such designed feature for stacking. Those K98's have a front ban bottom ...

Trump isn't as prepared as Kim Jong Un

Kim brought his own toilet to the Singapore conference. And people were saying Trump isn't prepared for the talks. Looks like Kim really takes his shit seriously. Nobody is going to find out what drugs he's taking. According to South Korean newspaper The Chosun Ilbo, Kim refuses to relieve himself o...

I think it was a bit shorter statement in the US Army. "No Brass. No Ammo Drill Sargent" , if I remember right. Wonder what they said back in the days of black powder rifles?

Here are some better images with mm Sony HX20V..... a camera that somehow cured itself of some kind of error message that had been affecting it for a while. Good zoom on it even for a pocket camera.

ON the Anniversary of D Day.... a Russian Camera

I got this Russian FED 5B recently. It was very popular in Russia as the preceding 4 models would suggest. The one I have must have been made in 1980 because it has the emblem of the Summer Olympics which were held in Russia in that year. It's clunky and funky and weighs in at a little over a pound ...
