Re: THE FIRST WORLD WAR as reported in the daily news

Contest against British won by "Negro" and "negro" crew. Reminds me of Blazing Saddles for some reason. The railroad gang of black laborers answer a demand to "give us a song" from the cowboys with " I get no kick from Champagne..." and the cowboys in turn sta...

Re: The evil we support in the world today

I'm sure there are "bad actors" enough on the Palestinian side. I agree that the larger Palestinian problem, beyond the Gaza Strip which is where the killing is at the moment, and creation of a separate Palestinian state could be better off settled by open and fair negotiation between the ...

Re: The evil we support in the world today

It's not case of two countries at war. It's a case of captor and captive. Guns against protest sign waving and rocks isn't a fair fight. It's a slaughter. Particularly if the protesters are inside their cage when they are shot down. As a special session of the UN human rights council voted to set up...

The evil we support in the world today

I was talking to a friend right after the Israeli troops killed 60 unarmed protesters and wounded thousands more...in one day. Collectively over a few weeks the numbers are unknown to me but how many the armed troops killed must be much larger in total killed and wounded by a times figure more than ...

Re: THE FIRST WORLD WAR as reported in the daily news

The war is playing hell with German nobility. Counts and barons are being killed like a plague had gotten hold of them. And in a way....maybe it had. No wonder I never ran into anybody who's last name was Finek von Finekenstein in my entire life... a name like that you would remember. https://chroni...

Pentax Super Program

Got one for $6 plus $5 shipping because of a defect to the camera body on one corner. Somebody must have banged it into something at some time. But.. the space behind the crack isn't in the film compartment so no big deal. This is Super Program number two for me. The first one I got for a total of a...

Considering how different each sound seems to be it seems unbelievable. What if other words could be so misunderstood........maybe when Trump said "covfefe" he was really saying something intelligible.

8000 Surplus military 1911 45. pistols to CMP

Arranging a local dealer to do the transfer, proving you are a citizen, etc. But before you rush to download the forms consider the prices and conditi...

By now this isn't news. Seems a recorded sound either sounds like "yanny" or "laurel" depending on your perception of sound frequencies ..... so it is said.

So what do you hear?

You both know in real life no soldier ever counted to any number before tossing a grenade. Re: Dooley shotgun

That is interesting. As a somewhat passing thought the expert says one shouldn't shoot a firearm over 150 years old as a general rule. Wonder if that is because of the quality of the steel or what may have happened to the firearm over the many decades that may have caused it to deteriorate ?

He and I were instigators of a battalion reunion in Branson in 2015 and we have known each other for years now. Decades after Vietnam he went back on several visits and ended up marrying a gi...

Re: THE FIRST WORLD WAR as reported in the daily news

Americans of German extraction living in Germany as civilians ran the chance of having their property confiscated. One such was a big enough fish to make the newspapers. George Ehret was a big time brewer in New York who returned to the homeland for an extended stay as an old man before the war and ...
