Re: THE FIRST WORLD WAR as reported in the daily news

Just another day of bashing the hell out of each other on the battle field. But....Wilson bows to the French and supports the French general for commander in chief of the allies.

Re: THE FIRST WORLD WAR as reported in the daily news

Atrocity stories were front page news a hundred years ago. Reading this one reminded me of the movie Platoon, which was fiction, or the actual horrific My Lai Massacre in the Vietnam war about a half century later. However, unlike many such WWI stories that were likely more propaganda rumor than tru...

Dick's Sporting goods news

Dick's Sporting Goods is not only no longer selling semi-auto M15 style rifles, they are destroying the ones they have left in inventory. Hardly my favorite store. There is one in my home town but it's generally overpriced and underwhelming as to inventory. Wonder what their stock holders think abou...

Re: THE FIRST WORLD WAR as reported in the daily news

Allies are backing up under all out attacks by the Germans. Americans are starting to get into more heavy fighting near the main brunt of attack and no longer part of a side show.

I just renewed the domain name this morning as it was that time again. Renewed for two years as usual. I think that should cover WWI and get us to the edge of the jazz age....assuming nothing happens to the server of the catastrophic kind or.... Trump doesn't end the world with WWIII.

The slaughter was terrific. Only nobody seemed to be terrified at the carnage. All fine when it was the Germans slaughtered but tomorrow the screw will turn and the headlines will not tell that story.

Another ebay you pays your money and you takes your chances camera. Well... total with shipping $18.00. Not a chance. The proposal now is not like the line between North Carolina and South Carolina or North Dakota and South Dakota but looks like a Giant monster took a bite out of a chunk of coastal California. The idea was to get all the fruits and nuts....and Hollywood, Silicon Valley, and we love il...

I've got two 50 cal ammo cans full of surplus Nagant ammo. At least a large portion of that stash is yellow tip...maybe all of it. The good thing is that the yellow tip doesn't stick like the steel jacket stuff that I've had in the past and it is pretty sure fire. I've had some silver tip in the pas...

Vern, they are all over ebay. That's the good news. The bad news is they start off "reasonable" but for some reason they end up with shipping just under $40 a lot of the time. But.... you might get lucky. Search M7 bayonet alone and you can find one delivered for $23.69...no scabbard. You ...

The US M7 bayonet for the M16 rifle

I got one recently, although I generally have zero interest in bayonets. The M7 Colt design bayonet was made for a lot of years beginning in, I read, 1964, to attach to the M16 rifle. The BOC company, Bauer Ordinance Company, made more of them than any of a half dozen other suppliers. It was the bay...

President makes a speech and watches a parade of troops a hundred years ago. The speech was to justify the war and whip up some enthusiasm for the next bond drive and the war in general.
