No 4 barrel

I did actually enquire at Fultons in Bisley last year about the very same, and the reply I got was "if only!" I don't think the current crop of new SMLE barrels will be around for too long either; it's been rumoured on this site that some very shady people are buying them and putting them ...

British Guns

I cut my teeth on that site but like everything in life we all move on, I still used to log in and read the posts but have rarely posted much in recent times.

No 5 Sight adjuster

Sorry Adam I don't have a picture of one, however it is not too disimilar to the No 4 adjuster being slightly rounder and fatter in appearance to clear the muzzle flash eliminator.

And probably a doddle for an engineer to make up.

No5 front sight adjuster

There are plans afoot to re-manufacture the No 5 sight adjuster by some members of LERA, the secretary has one and has offered it to another member as a template. I will post more of this when it happens although I understand they will be offered for sale in the LERA news sheet "Dispatches"...

20 Ton proof

I seem to remember that it was about three years ago that the NRA (Bisley) had a note about it pinned up in the range office telling members that in their best interests they should get 7.62mm Enfields (No 4 based) re-proofed.

I assumed at the time that this was new advice from the proof house.

Civilian Service Rifle

Adam if you would email me your address, mick_kelly@talk21.com I can send you a photocopy of the entry form I sent off. The only thing to be wary of is Practice 2 of the Queen Mary on the Tuesday which is a rundown from 500 yards to 100 firing at every point on the way down. This year the reintroduc...

Brilliant post Adam!

And some very good pictures capturing the spirit of the Imperial Meeting, particulary good to see the youngsters shooting as they are our ticket for a healthy future at Bisley . I really do hope to shoot the weekend historic bit next year which may entail me spending all week there. What could get i...

Bisley Historical arms meeting and meeting people...

Great pictures Gert, I'm sorry I missed you but I was there Monday through to Thursday morning and couldn't make the Sunday, but I did see your car parked outside the South London Rifle Club on Saturday morning so knew you had made it over on the ferry. I had to go back to Bisley to deliver a telesc...

Safety

There you go Brian, Brewstop puts it in a very clear and precice way but ducks eloquently (if I may say so) away from saying that with civilian shooters you never know what you are going to get on the firing point in the way of morons! I was actually asked by a bloke about four weeks ago to clear hi...

Lax RO'ing?

I wouldn't suggest it's lax Brian but it is very differant. You are cleared before you start at Bisley by the military but I don't know if they follow the same procedure on a military range. The major differance is in their rifles which when cleared they are told to "ease springs" which me...
