Re: Japanese Type 97 Sniper rifle

Thanks gentlemen, never really had a desire to own a 2nd Japanese sniper rifle, but collecting these snipers has added a new level of enjoyment to my collecting.

Re: Japanese Type 97 Sniper rifle

Timing is everything they say , and good timing and a little bit of luck has paid off for me. I found my Kokura scope this past weekend ( only 119 off my S/N ), complete with carrying case, lens brush, lens rag, and original Japanese instruction sheet. Now to get a new rubber eye cup and I am in bus...

The yellow tip is Hungarian machine gun ammo IIRC, Czech silver tip is 147 gr light ball ammo made by S&B and is some great stuff if you can find it, good as Russian 7n1 sniper ammo

Japanese Type 97 Sniper rifle

Kind of stumbled into this one but I am glad I did, all numbers matching and original except for the butt plate and the reproduction Monopod.
Now to find a nice Kokura 2.5x scope for it

Re: Anybody sell anything on Gun Broker?

Not really surprised about the driver's license, one of the online ammo sellers won't sell to anyone without a copy of your driver's license, don't remember which one. But the utility bill, that's a new one on me. Maybe with the way things are going about guns in this country, Gunbroker is circling...

Re: Anybody sell anything on Gun Broker?

They want a copy of my drivers license and a copy of a utility bill besides the credit card so they can collect their fees. I figured on the credit card but the other.....the copy of a drivers license and the utility bill. The utility bill particularly rankles. Back in the car business days that wa...

Thanks everyone, been wanting one of these for a while now and finally can notch it off my list. Guess I am now going to see what I can find in a German High Turret sniper, or at least a high quality reproduction.

Re: I never enjoyed getting a "D" this much in school !

Thanks everyone, it has been fun shifting the focus of my collection away from mostly Mosin's to sniper rifles. Very nice MT, what era are we looking at here? The flash hider looks like something from the early M16 perhaps ? Joe The T37 flash suppressor was installed on these in the late 50's early ...

Re: Adding some French flavor to the collection

That's remarkable. I can't remember what they were back in the day. Since the MAS 36 I got was $59.87 it couldn't have been much more than twice that for the automatic rifle. Yes sir, and Mosin's where 39.95 from CAI, now they are over $200.00. Guess that means to things, either we bought them righ...

Re: Adding some French flavor to the collection

The rifle was a bargain @ $585.00 shipped, with them normally going for $800.00/$1000.00. The scoped rifle was $1400.00, and is in the low end of the range , some fetch up to $2000.00 with all the toys.

I have 2 of these, ( one is pristine) but would love to see that rifle up close, if it is indeed a Hungarian M52 it could help to resolve a debate on another forum I am on. The stock isn't Hungarian, it lacks the "02" cartouche on the r/h side of the butt stock. I believe the barrel bands ...

1943 Remington 03a4 sniper rifle

Just got my latest addition to my collection unpacked and inspected, and I am quite pleased with it. Its a Remington 03a4 sniper rifle dated 10-43 with the correct M73b1 scope. This rifle has its share of bumps and bruises but it doesn't appear to have not gone through any major arsenal refurbishmen...

Flea market find , numbers matching M38

About every 4 years or so the wife and I take off the last Wednesday in August and go to a big Flea Market in S.E. Indiana to dispose of stuff we no longer need, and for her to buy stuff other people don't need. Well this year was different, a gentleman set up next to me and had a 1942 Izhevsk M38 f...
