Re: Ken Burns Vietnam War epic

I was a member of the 2nd/503rd in the early 1960's spending most of my time working with the Nationalist Chinese paratroopers on Taiwan. Some minor injuries prevented me from another enlistment so I was fortunate to make it home in 1963 missing the events my old unit (now part of the 173rd Airborne...

Re: Lee Enfield No 4

Thanks....

When I edit I don't see the tab with the three lines, in its place I see a tab labeled "Attachments"; clicking this sends me to the "Add Files" option so I think it is OK.

Re: Lee Enfield No 4

Niner, When I try this I don't see the three lines you mention. Is there a problem with just using the add file option to post a picture from my computer? I've tried this and when I preview the edited post the image looks good; for example here is a picture of the .327 Magnum revolver I posted earli...

Re: M1 Garand

We used the M1 rifle in basic training at Ft. Hood in the early 1960's, we continued to use it at Ft. Bragg the whole time I was in the 82nd, when I went to the far east as part of a joint military group we still used the M1 rifle for awhile, and I shot the M1 rifle on rifle teams. When our M14's fi...

Re: .327 Magnum Opinions

M14man, I like .30 carbine revolvers as well especially with the commercial primers, powder options, and bullets available these days. Do you shoot surplus ammo? The reason I ask is because I remember a friend of mine who owned one just like yours 30-years ago experiencing frequent misfires the expe...

Re: C124 anyone?

I had no personal experience with the C-7A Caribou. We did use the C123 "Thunder Pig" a lot and I was told by one of the pilots who knew the Caribou as well how impressed he was with the Caribou because it could operate out of landing fields way too short for the C123.

Re: C124 anyone?

Hey Niner,

I did a quick search assuming most of the younger people knew little if anything about the old bird, but missed your video; it had a lot of details, thanks for adding....

C124 anyone?

Were any of the old timers exposed to the Douglas C124 during their military days? If so you know firsthand why she was called “Old Shaky”. In her day, she was huge with four prop engines as I remember rated at 3,600 to 3,800 hp. each depending on the reference source, however, whatever power they h...

Re: Questions about the M38

Duncan, That was years ago so I do not have any target pictures, however, I remember it very well, and the net was I came away a believer. I had the assistance of two other club shooters interested in learning about the accuracy of the Swedish Mauser. We shot new Norma ammo on our 300-yard rifle ran...
