Re: A bayonet for a 1MK III
Niner - Your bayonet is an Indian No.1 Mk II*. You correctly identified the maker as Northwest Railways. India made somewhere between 6 and 9 different models of bayonets for the No.1 rifle. Especially during WWII there were a number of makers.

Re: A Different .303
Actually Prvi Partizan is making 303 Savage brass for about $.90 a piece. I've got brass and dies and another 1899 in 303 Savage. It will get shot, maybe only one range trip and definitely with mild loads and cast bullets. It's a requirement that all the guns in the safe are functional and have been...

A Different .303
When Canada joined the war in August 1914 there was a movement to raise home guard units from overage or otherwise ineligible men to guard bridges and public buildings and other infrastructure. One such unit was the Montreal Home Guard (MHG). Apparently comprised mostly of members of the Montreal Po...

Re: Random Meaningless Pictures-Lets See Them
The 173rd Airborne Brigade conducted the only parachute mission during the VN war. February 1967. I talked with a guy who had been there. He said "They knew we were coming and they shot the shit out of us."

Re: The NRA and bankruptcy
NRA isn't having money problems, it is a strategy to break their charter and get out of New York state, although I agree La Pierre and his group need to go and there need to be some major reforms in how the organization is run.

The golf course at NAS Pensacola is the A.C. Read Golf course. Wonder if he would have appreciated the intended honor.

Re: Navy Air Museum in Pensacola Florida
I work at NAS Pensacola so I'm no stranger to the museum. I've been to the Air and Space in Washington DC, both the old one downtown and the new one out by Dulles. While the National Museum of Naval Aviation doesn't have the breadth of the Smithsonian collection since it is limited to Navy and Marin...

Re: The Patton Saber
He wasn't completely wrong, just very incomplete. Patton was intensely interested in learning more about his profession and improving the tools thereof. An accomplished horseman and fencer he worked towards upgrading the tools of his trade at every opportunity. A lot of thought and study of other co...

Re: The Patton Saber
The guy doing the video didn't do his homework very well. Not only was Patton a cavalryman, he was also an Olympic class fencer who competed as part of the US team in the 1912 games. The design of the M1913 owes much of its DNA to the British P1908 saber which it very closely resembles. At the very ...
