I use alternating applications of a nitro solvent and Sweet's 7.62 copper solvent. It took just four cycles to get down to steel on my Mosin. This was after two good soaks of forrest bore foam; it is good, but not as good as most people think.

The barel on my 91/30 was cacked up to hell when I got it. A week of alternating applications of bore foam and Sweet's 7.62 got me down to bare steel without too much hard work.

make sure you slug the barrel before using cast, I had an M44 and it measured .317"! My 91/30 measures .3125".
