I love the crests on these old rifles.
Great find!

Well, this is mister Miller Tyme's thread. I don't want to be that guy. You know.

Re: 1958 Swiss ZFK55
So pretty! Yes, it is rare. Only 4150 were made. The checkered grip was standard for all the ZfK55s. They are great fun to shoot. Yes, I'm outing myself as a fellow owner. The brake must help with the recoil but also keep in mind that the rifle weighs about 13 and a half pounds too ;) Great pi...

Re: A book review that should interest Arch
While not the same as the Swiss Vetterli I have, it might be an interesting book. The Swiss developed the rifle in 1868 (I think) and the Italians adopted a version of it in 1870. The cool part of the Italian history is that they were pressed into service for the first world war as a stop-gap measur...

Ha ha! You are all great  Yes, it can be used for all of the things you have described! But, it is designed to be used as a stacking rod. You are a smart group. The opening pic is of a 96/11 and the following is of three K31s. http://i13.photobucket.com/albums/a292/ArchFluffy/Swiss/Sack.jpg -Ar...

Re: Original matching [SA] 91/30
I often times think that the history of the rifle is one of the best parts. I spend far more time reading and researching about my rifles than handling/looking at/shooting them.
Even deciphering the markings on them is fun!
Looks like a great find too!

Re: Swiss sight corrector
!Update! K31s are not the only Swiss rifles that have sight correctors. Here is a REGULA on my 96/11. It goes under the rear sight where turning it will raise or lower the sight. You can see that it is marked for the G11 (a rifle with the same specs this one was upgraded to). http://i13.photobucket....
