Swiss Bayonet Frogs
*frog noises* Here is a quick guide for you on matching a frog to your bayonet. In these cases the frog grips the Bayonet scabbard with the aid of a tab. Hello and welcome to the forum! I do think that you are correct in that it has been cut down from the standard model. It looks like a pro job but also a bit wonky for mounting a bayonet. That's the hole for the cleaning rod right below the barrel and above the bayonet lug. So pull the rod to attach ...

Yes, You must check it for functionality.
Besides that the only other thing I can think of is to remind you to use care when cleaning the stock to preserve the markings and not round off any edges.

Yay! It's finally arrived! Okay, when I decide to refinish my old Swiss rifles I use this recipe. It's supposed to be the old one for the old walnut stocks. 30% Turpentine 30% Linseed oil (raw, not the boiled kind) 30% fruit (wine) vinegar 10% bee's wax The hardest part is heating the liquid to melt...
