A new Range toy, BYF44 HT sniper
After years of sitting on the sidelines when it came to German snipers and realizing my best bet was to go reproduction I decided last year to pic up a reproduction SSR, and a LSR to shout and enjoy. But I always wanted a High Turret sniper but never seemed to realize the dream, until now. Last Augu...

Re: M1 Garand
Nice rifle Robert, got 3 of them, a M1d, M1c, and a SA 1944 M1 that was fired by Local Veterans Honor Guard at his funeral. The disabled the gas system and had to rack it for the 1st 2 rounds, but left the 3rd shell in the rifle. That one will never be shot again.

Re: The K98k's after WWII
I have 3 K98k's at present all being Reproduction snipers ( 1 is still in the shop being made into a HT) The 2 I have shot ( an SSR & a LSR) are both RC mix masters but have great bores and can hold there own with any of my other WW2 surplus rifles. The Short Side Rail 6 (2).png The Long Side Ra...

Re: Chuck Mawhinney SSA M40
One question though Walt - did you move the POA into the bull after the 3 targets you posted? :loco: Not yet Duncan, was fighting the clock by the time i got the 3 targets shot. Wife has me house hunting with her, which so far has been good because each one she sees makes her like our present home ...

Re: Chuck Mawhinney SSA M40
I was looking for something else researching some 9th Division newspapers. This is a jpg clipping from a 9th Division Newspaper in September of 1968. You can't really tell from the crappy photo what they are shooting but the bottom one looks not unlike a M14 with a starlight scope. Sure looks like ...

Re: Chuck Mawhinney SSA M40
Finally got some range time with the M40, and after some issues with a loose scope base I got to have some fun. Needless to say I am pleased with it so far. 1st target is Black Hills 168gr Match @ 100yds 24.png 2nd target is Black Hills 168gr Match @ 200yds 25.png 3rd target is Black Hills 175gr Mat...

Chuck Mawhinney SSA M40
Never thought I would have an interest in one of these, or any sniper rifle post 1960, but I have several internet buddies that are building M40's I caught the bug and when this rifle came available I just had to jump on it. The story on these rifles started in 2006 with a desire to build a Vietnam ...
