Milsurp After Hours

Here is the Type 53 I bought recently. Boy the Chinese were bruuutal on their weapons. This thing is aesthetically a dog. It wears all its history thats for sure.

It is all numbers matching which is why I decided to get it.
This one has a very nice bore so I will shoot it.....not when anyones around though

I know what you mean.

Some pictures of my Chinese T53 from a post I made a long time ago.
My T-53 came in like it just went through WW III.
I used a hairdryer and steam to get the oil and the dirt out of the stock.
Minor dents also disappear when using steam.
Then I let the stock dry for about 3 or 4 days.
After that, several layers of linseed oil (takes about 3 to 5 days).
For the finishing touch I used some beeswax.
I don’t want my Mosin Nagants to look like new again.
These are weapons with a history attached to them and I always leave them the way I bought them.
I only do some cleaning and protecting.

Wow that looks awesome! I was going to ask how you guys 'clean' up you ole guns without taking all the patina and history off of them. I hadnt thought of steam. I am definitely going to try that. I hope mine looks that good when I'm done with it. I really want to add this one to the shooter list because the guts of the rifle are good. It just looks like hell on a bad day.
