Reference Material on Japanese Rifles

Post by riceone » Mon Jan 07, 2008 11:33 pm

Japanese Collectors are fortunate to have so much materal avaliable to them. Few years back it was not so, but now if you want to know you can. Here are a few of the books I have.

The Type 38 Arisaka, by Francis C. Allan and Harold W. Macy

Rifle, U.S. Type 99 Japanese Cal. 30, by Doss H. White

Japanese Military Rifles 1543 - 2000 +, By Doss and Ruth White

The Early Arisakas, by Francis C. Allan and Dr. Stanley Zielinski

Japanese Rifle of World Way 11, by Duncan O. McCollum

Articles From Banzai On The Japanese Sniper Rifle - Sniper Rifle Serial Number and Telescopic Sight Manufacturer Tables, compiled by Victor and Linda Soto

The Japanese Type 99 Arisaka Rifle, by Doss White and Don Voigt.

Military Rifles of Japan, by Fred L. Honeycutt, jr. and F. Pratt Anthony.

Most of these are priced under $50. The Early Arisakas is a bit more at about $70 but its nearly 500 pages.

Military Rifles of Japan

Post by PeterN2 » Tue Jan 08, 2008 5:45 pm

Military Rifles of Japan is the only book I have specifically for Japanese rifles I have other books that touch on Japanese firearms such as the Smith & Smith Small Arms of The World (vols 10, 11 & 12). I have never bought the Honeycutt Pistol book because I am never going to be able own a Japanese pistol of any type in this country :(
