SEMCA Meeting 2008

Post by riceone » Sun Feb 03, 2008 9:58 pm

We had a good meeting, met some new collectors, saw some new items, good food and conversation. A really nice Swiss and Japanese sword displays. Also a display of over 40 Japanese Pistols. Several Japanese experimental rifles along with snipers and some beautiful sporterized Japanese rifle. riceone.

The man in the blue sweater with hands behind his back is George Turner, he is a vetran of D-Day landing Second Day, he fought on till the end.He had a little brother killed in Holland and buried there. Man at the end of the talble with hands in his pocket is Jay Ashford, he was a replacement at the Battle of the Bulge. He was wounded. Jay is my neighbor and I go to church with George. Both very gentle men.

The prettiest of all was my 7 baby kittens, they were a big hit.

Amen to both those thoughts.

Don Voigt from Charlotte, NC came the futherest. I guess that was between 7 and 800 miles. Duncan you and Peter could each have a meeting like this by simply having a place to meet and getting the word out. Unless of course there are laws that would prohibit. In May of 06 and friend and I were riding home from a similary meeting over near Chatanooga, Tn and we decided to have one here at my place. We picked first weekend in February because I am not doing anything on the farm. And, it usually too cold and wet to do anything else and people are tired of staying in. It was a find choice, we had a good crown last year and this year. riceone.
