Finally shot the last ditch

Post by Flatlands » Sun Jun 01, 2008 8:22 pm

Still forgot batteries for pics. What I really got is a 1942 barreled action put together on a last ditch stock with a last ditch bolt. The bayonet piece is correct for the action and not the stock. Also the sling swivel has a place for a monopod so there is at least 3 guns according to the expert.

Headspace is a little long but hey I'm used to Enfields. Tried some berdan primed ammo with interesting results. The ones that fired after 2 hits of the firing pin would stay in a couple inches of each other. The others strung vertical across the paper.I figgured it was me with the goofy peep sight. Broke out the Norma and what a difference!!!!! 2 or 2 1/2'' five shot groups. No telling how good the gun could really shoot with a scope or a better shooter behind it.

Lots of people are pleasently supprised at the accuracy of Japanese rifle. Not supprising as the Japanese were quite good with them during the war. riceone
