Postby dhtaxi » Fri Nov 20, 2009 3:13 pm

I have loaded some ammo for a day at the range to morrow.
6.5x55 140 grain bullit (Jacketed) 43.8 grains of Vitavouri N160 COL=2.970
Will let you know how I get on.
I will also be shooting a P14 174 Grain jacketed bullit 41 grains of Vitavouri N140.
I will also be shooting 7.62x39 factory fodder because I need the cases for cast bullit loads that I am going to shoot in it.
Hope the weather holds out.

Got some very good results with a new recipe (from the new guy). I trust it is acceptable to post results with the loads listed, as long as people understand that this load works fine with no pressure signs in my rifle, but may not work in yours, and should not be used without working up to it.

I had a nice, long range day before I had my motorcycle accident a month ago (no range time for five more weeks till the cast comes off, damn it), shot several rifles, but the best result came from my Swede M41b CG sniper. It put five shots in a .562 group at 100 yds. Admittedly I don't think I could do that every time, I'm not that good a shot, but everything clicked on this string and I didn't call any bad shots.
The load was one I hadn't tried before:

Sierra 107 gr. HPBT Match bullets
H 380 powder - 42.1 gr.
Winchester magnum primers (I like them better for ball powders)
Lapua cases, neck-sized only, and used only in this rifle.
C.O.L. 3.10

This is not a hot load, but I would never recommend using someone else's load for your rifle without starting 10% lower and working up. I know most everyone is using 140 gr. bullets, but I am pleased with the results I have gotten with
the 107 gr. match bullets in other loads as well.

I'd be interested to read if anyone else is experimenting with 107 gr. bullets.
