But, gee ,it was good and especially good for a cold in the head... one good whiff over the tank and the head cleared like magic.
Wonder what it did to our heads?

No, actually I'm old, overweight and cranky as hell. Its taken me over sixty years to get to this point, and dammit, I deserve it!

You know about them, huh? Actually had one once, a repro. After about three cylinders full went thru it, it started to open up so I got rid of it. Nobody in their right mind should ever shoot a brass framed revolver, or even make one, for that matter.Aughnanure wrote:What're you packin' in that portrait?

Welcome to the forums Talon
Some milsurps, I think, never lose all their saturated grease. I always, nearly always, carry some paper towels with me to the range for wiping off boiled out grease from a lot of rounds fired or just a hot day.

I've heard of people putting shorter stocks in the dishwasher, but the detergent bleaches the stock, however the hot water and steam get out some dings and dents. I've built a "Cosmo Coffin" (large rectangular sheet metal tube) powered by a small space heater, let the stock and hand guard sit in it for about an hour and wipe down with denatured alcohol and repeat for about 12 to 18 hours. It may not get all of it out but pretty darn close. Best part is it's reusable.
