Egyptian HAKIM problem-HELP!

Post by USDF » Thu Sep 30, 2004 2:50 pm

Have a Hakim that pulls the bullet from the case leaving the bullet in the barrel and powder in the action when I pull back on the bolt cover. Seems to engrave the bullet about .100 of an inch with German

and British 8mm. Empty case drops right in and extracts well. Seems to be a bullet-throat problem.

Barrel and chamber are excellent.

Do I need to purchase a throat reamer for $75 <!--EZCODE EMOTICON START :( --><img src=http://www.ezboard.com/images/emoticons/frown.gif ALT=":(">;

or a "go" gauge. Bolt won't close on a "No-Go"

Any ideas??

If you're using standard milsurp ammo then possibly a fault with the rifle. If it's hand-loads then it could be that the head is set too far forward and as you chamber the head is hitting the rifleing! Check overall loaded round length against max length data for the cartridge. Also Check the bore for any burrs etc.

Good Luck

It could be also too light bullet crimping. When the round is slammed into chamber, the case will rest on chamber shoulder and the bullet go ahed until is catched by rifling. Try use a stronger crimp tool.
