Removing the hull of a .22 case.

Post by Niner » Mon Jul 04, 2005 3:52 pm

I had the problem of a Federal 22LR case coming apart after firing. The rim came out but the rest of the shell case didn't. I tried all kinds of ways to push it out but nothing I tried would engage the side of the case well enough to dislodge it. Finally I got the tip end section of an old outers cleaning rod and put a bore brush in it and attached it to my hand drill. A little metal polish to lubricate the case a little and let her rip. After several hundred fast revolutions the case came out. You can see it in the picture as the small screw driver is pointing at it.

Those .22's are so small they can really be a pain when things don't go right! Looks like you found a method!

You are right about the rifle. My wife gave it to me for Christmas over thirty years ago.
