SPARE PART WANTED...........

Post by DuncaninFrance » Mon Feb 06, 2012 2:20 pm

I need a replacement extractor for my Webley Greener GP MkII shotgun.
Greener themselves are offering one for £35 but I just wondered if anyone could improve on that price - delivered.
( This is to satisfy Her Indoors  )

This is no help Duncan, but I can remember buying the whole gun for slightly less than tht price :D

Of course that was a few years ago; different era and a different pound Sterling.

Eoin, prices now run at about £120 and I paid £150 for mine  Of course you bought yours in the LAST CENTURY mate!

Not now required, further investigation shows that the ejector is still in one piece

Duncan,

if you haven't already, check in over here

There are some very nice folks there, they speak all things Martini very fluently and are a great resource.

I have now been able to strip the gun and photograph the extractor which, as you will see from the images is in perfect condition.

The whole gun is in mint condition and all the pin circlips are tight.
I recently shot some Black Powder loads from brass cases and although they were extracted properly you could see there there were anomalies at the base of the cartridge side. With good quality 12g 28gm 7½ loads the brass was still deforming but not enough to stop the extractor action working.

Could it be that in the early/middle part of the last century (!!) shotgun ammo was more substantially made by people such as Eley with thicker metal on the paper cartridge that did not fire form to the breech on discharge?
