Working with wood this weekend

This is the stock for a sporterized Spanish K98 type rifle that I bought for $35 in the late '70's. I decided to do something with it today. I have some tools ordered and I think I will make my first checkering attempt on this one.

I'm looking forward to the checkering post. I've thought about trying that myself at one time or the other. Please tell us how it goes and ...take some photos.
