The one I have for my Remington 1858 is OK too. It obviously has to have a smaller dia to fit into the cylinder but I have no problem with it.

The cut out to fit the nipple is not as high and so there is not as much leverage on the 'ears'.

Not all nipple wrenches are of equal quality for sure. However, one needs at least three or four different wrenches . You need, often more than one pistol wrench, depending on the set of the nipples. You need a good standard rifle wrench and also a larger one for a musket nipple. I took a snap of a few of mine for illustration.
