Norm Flayderman, for those who don't know, was the guy who knew more about American antique historical firearms in general than anybody else. He was the guy the other experts consulted and considered a mentor. He wrote a total of 9 editions of his Guide to Antique American Firearms and their values over the years. Each volume was loaded with information and history on a wide ranging variety of weapons, both civilian and military in 650 or so pages. He died May, 2013.

His family continues an antique business he started decades ago.

R.L. Wilson, who has authored several books... Colt, and guns of the Old West, all known for being loaded with excellent photos, had a good piece at the Gun Blue Books site... I picked this link up from the Flayderman site that you may miss if not looking for it.
