How much does it weigh? Five pounds?
It weighs 9 lbs but I am making a deck to fire it from which will have the correct restraining ropes etc., I don't want to have to chase it around the countryside!!

How about the 4th of July? Just right for a cannon model from the Constitution.
I am going to film it the first time it is fired. It will probably take about a week to sort the deck out and I still have to Duracoat it so the 4th July isn't that far out for it's induction.
To find out how far it actually shoots I am going to take it down to the Estuary and shoot it into the water................

Accordion to the instruction booklet from Ardesa it shoots a .69 round ball using a minimum of 45 and a maximum of 85 grains fg/ffg or Pyrodex. You can also shoot Tripple 7 but they don't suggest a load for that.............Contact the Manufacturer
I will use 60 mm of fuse which burns for 7 seconds ( I timed it!)

A week gone Saturday I was helping my friend shoot her newly acquired cannon, only using about 30g of BP on the indoor range so recoil was moderate and accuracy was reasonable too. This one came already assembled and ready to shoot but I did fit a lead weight to the undercarriage to help damp the recoil a little.
It was a very enjoyable day and we had three of the other club members along shooting their cannons too.

I wouldn't mind setting up a 'mini' range on our 25 mtr outdoor range but first I need to discover it's tendencies so to speak

Build now complete. The barrel is painted with Duracoat which needs 3-4 weeks to harden off properly so should be shooting it w/c 15 June. Leaves me time to make the decking to shoot it from

Great job. Well done paint job on the Duracoat. Still can't get over a pink gun carriage.

That second photo looks like the actual color is a little more brownish orange to me. :loco:
