...is an 1858 Remington Army revolver by Uberti.

Got it 2nd hand and it was advertised as in 'as new' condition.
Can't take possession of it till I go through the process, which will mean that I'll have it in time for Christmas.
I have seen and examined it and it's really indistinguishable from new.

They are a nice revolver Eoin. I had a Pietta 1858 but couldn't hit the side of a container ship with it so I sold it to help fund my Snider. :) :)

Great. The first BP pistol I ever bought was a Remington New Army. I haven't shot it in a long while but I liked the way it would shoot. The design with the top strap and cylinder lock beats the Colts all to hell , although the Colts look cool. The biggest draw back was they made the pistol grip to scale and according to historically correct and it seems too narrow for many people. Duncan solved that problem as you will remember.

The ammo size recommendation for this model reproduction varies. Mine uses .451 and is Pietta made . From my old Dixie catalog looks like Uberti favored .454 size ball ammo.

Uberti, is the up scale manufacturer of the producers. Uberti guns cost more new but are considered by many to be worth it in material and workmanship.

Duncan may have had a hard time hitting the side of a barn with his Pietta, but I was able to shoot mine consistently well and equal to my best smokeless powder hand guns.

That was because of my trapped nerve problem I think. Bench rested I was able to put 6 in the black at 25 mtrs but it sort of defeated the object I thought

Having become interested in Remingtons again and with a view to making a case out of some fine cedar that I have, I've been doing a bit of surfing.
I have a yen to get a repro conversion of the 1858 Army.

Look what I found, never seen one before:

Worth a look.

I'm on a library terminal and the pic won't post.
