Black Powder & Photography.......

Post by DuncaninFrance » Tue Feb 27, 2018 5:28 am

As well as being a gun nut I am also a serious photographer. I was Vice President of my local club from it's inception 4 years ago until this year when I stepped down and became a pure committee member.

Last night we had a practical evening of "Chronophotographie"

Chronophotography is defined as "a set of photographs of a moving object, taken for the purpose of recording and exhibiting successive phases of motion"

I took my Baker rifle with a view to giving them the chance to record the firing sequence. It was so cold that only 5 members came outside to try it but there were some good images.

Here is the first one., I am waiting for others to send me their results and I will post them when I get them........

So... how did they do the photo? Put the camera in B and after the flash in the pan close it?

That is flashing at 90º to the barrel Vern. It is the powder in the pan + the start of the ignition in the barrel escaping through the touch hole.
