New Pistol

Postby Aughnanure » Mon Dec 04, 2017 6:15 am

Just bought a 1991 Colt Custom (1911 really) in .38 Super (we're not allowed anything as big and powerful as a .45ACP  ), polished stainless (which will probably stain).
Brand spanking new in the box (I usually buy second hand, or even further down the line), $A1,695.00 which is $1288.87 US and is under the RRP in the States
Haven't fired it yet but got a set of Lee Carbide dies and over 600 "once fired cases" (some of 'em look like they've been reloaded a few times).

Probably won't get to fire it till the New Year as I'll be away in Brisbane when the next pistol shoot is on.

Look forward to seeing the photos.
So what is the cut-off point between .38, (that you can handle), and .45 (that is too much for you) ........

Well, we have calibre restrictions, no pistols over .38, except for black powder.

.357 Magnum is OK but the 38-40 being really .401 is banned.

When I wanted a single action Colt (Uberti) I would have liked one in .44-40 but had to settle for the more powerful .357 Magnum.

Good to have sensible laws. :loco:

I'll try to take some pics tomorrow, have a couple of other new (2nd hand) as well.

All my pistols,

I've tried every which way to download some photos, including going to Photobucket, which site is, frankly absolutely hopeless

The problem mainly seems to be in my computer.
I'll try another photo hosting site.

Hopefully with better luck.

Odd looking pistol on far right with black grip, interesting looking, what is it????
And as tight as your gun laws are, I'm surprised you can have so many pistols, especially the
2 semi-autos......

Vern, that is a Webley Junior Air Pistol in .177 I think. Worth about $120 in the UK.

Vern,

Crazy ain't it, but we can't have .22 semi-auto rifles or shotguns, even pump guns are banned but not pump action rifles :loco:

Duncan,

Spot on, in .177 but still a lethal weapon here; needs a scear spring.
