Another shot at 200 yards with .22/// Match Scores Added!

Post by Brass Rat » Sun Sep 16, 2007 2:30 pm

With 2 200 yard rimfire matchescoming up in the next couple of months I took my Suhl Model 150 ( if nothing else, the East Germans knew how to build a fine rifle) out on a 200 yard range to try out my new 4mm riser for my rear sight.

I bought a 12mm riser just before the match this spring but it put me shooting 8" high at 200 yards with the sight on the bottom.

This one puts me at 35 clicks down from the top at 200 yards and I can shoot at 50, 100, and 200 yards with the same setup.

This was shot with CCI Mini Mags from a bench using the front half of one of Gunny Turners 1907 slings for support.

The shoot-n-see targets really helps to see those .22 sized holes at 200 yards. They are normally a bit tough to see even with a good scope.

that's pretty good shooting there I don't think I would be able to hit that at 200 yds. let alone see it.

Shot the 200 yard rimfire match today. I was real happy with my score in match #1. After shooting the first match my relay went to the pits and pulled targets for 3 strings of 20 rounds and by the time we got back on the firing line for our 2nd string the wind had really picked up.

This match is a lot of fun and the rimfire rifles don't beat you up.

There is another one of these next month and I am going to try some Eley ammunition, I used CCI miniMags today.

Interested to know how the Eley compares to the CCI

I'm impressed.

I'd be pushing for scores like that at 100 yds.

What's really impressive is that the winning score in the Heavy Rifle, Iron Sight class was around 570.

Duncan, the serious rimfire shooters that were there tell me that the Eley in the black box is the stuff to beat. I'm going to pick up a couple of boxes to try out in next months match.

I wont use eley, Ithink that there is an old deaf bloke at the end of the production line sticking each round into his ears to put that "orrible" gunk on them that fouls your decent martini extractors.

I prefer CCI green tag!
