.25/20 Winchester
Just got my hands on a very good condition 1892 Winchester in .25 WCF (.25-20)
Note the absence of something that is usually here?
The stockwood looks a lot like Queensland maple but doesn't appear hand made, maybe done on a copying lathe.
I'm guessing but the carbine looks to be 1930-ish and I've got serious doubts about the barrel band, apart from that it's in very good condition, shiny and sharp rifling and a tight action. Pity about the chips off the stock.
Any suggestions?
PS. The number of edits represent a battle with 'Photobucket'

DON'T GET SO CLOSE If it's in focus and others want to enlarge it they can save it and view it in other programmes!!

Looks like you can reload for it. Says online that it is a good choice for varmits, rabbits, turkey's and such.

Re: .25/20 Winchester
The 25 WCF was my dad's favorite for foxes and 'roos at short range, say out to 100 yards. Unfortunately he'd sold his by the time that I got interested. Just trying to post some better pics but they've disappeared somewhere in the depths of my steam powered computer.
Posted them above...saves space.
Paid $A 300 for it and got $A 161.50 in Winchester and Peters ammo and new unfired brass in the deal.

Nice rifle, nice deal too. Congrats. Can't think what is missing but I'm not very familiar with these rifles.
That front barrel band looks very like the Martini and early Enfield barrel bands.
Good photos too.

The photos are much better now. Why not skip Photobucket altogether? All you have to do is hit the "upload attachment", "browse" and then "upload". No Photobucket required. Of course, if you like photobucket..... no problem.

Re: .25/20 Winchester
I tried posting direct but it didn't work, so I had another go and it didn't work either. In disgust I went to Photobucket and tonight it is going fine, did the necessary and came back here. Lo and behold, in my absence it worked, hence the double post.
Here's the other side.

Maybe you didn't wait for the photos to "load" before posting, once you attached them. If you hit the "submit" post before waiting for the short time it takes to load the photos, it takes a while for the picture to catch up to the posted remark. [When loading a photo you should see a loading indication in the bottom of your screen. It ].
