Remington Scoremaster 511

Post by Niner » Sat Jan 23, 2010 1:15 pm

There was a gun show today. I needed to spend more money like I need another hole in my head....but you have to go prepared, just in case something that you have been wanting shows up at a price you are willing to pay.

When I was a kid the first firearm I ever shot was a Remington Scoremaster .22. It was my father's rifle he bought to take on his boat for shooting sharks. But years later, that particular rifle ended up with one of my brothers and I have wanted one ...more or less wanted... for a lot of years. I was thinking about it today before I went to the show and I even looked the value up in a 2006 Standard firearms catalog. And what do you know? I found one, and only one, at the show. It was in terrific shape and the guy wanted $175 for it. I negotiated a bit and bought it for $150. Can't wait to shoot it.

It comes with a six round clip and shoots any length of .22 bullet.

Took it to the range. It is a keeper. Wish I could see better.

The way I was shooting it, the hits grouped to the right of point of aim. Might do a little front sight adjustment. The rear sight is just fine for elevation, and easy to adjust by just lifting up on the spring holder and moving the graduated rib in or out. Tried it at different distances. All produced better than expected results for my eyes.
