If you are celebrating Confederate Memorial day you put up the wrong flag. :rebel:

However, it really is Confederate Memorial day in Alabama and Mississippi , and no telling where else. The court house is closed and all state offices. And people get all excited about statues in the park of Robert E. Lee?

I don't actually have a Confederate flag to put up, but I will have a drink later and think of
Confederate Memorial Day. My Great-grandfather fought in the South Carolina Infantry, and
obviously survived......
Another Great-grandfather fought with the Iowa Infantry, so I have both sides covered......

Vern, there is a guy who was one of the Battalion RTO's in 1970 in Vietnam from our old infantry battalion. He, last time I had any contact, was working for the national park service or was a forest ranger or something like that. His great, or great great, grandfather was on a ship in Farragut's fleet at the battle of Mobile Bay. My great grandfather was in the 21st Alabama Infantry, and after the Regiment suffered enough losses to be sent back to Mobile after Shiloh to be rebuilt it was trained to do double duty as artilleryman. My great grandfather was with a battery located on a sand island on the pass between Dauphin Island and Cedar Point. This guy I'm mentioning from Vietnam and I got to discussing it in emails and it was at least likely his relative and my relative tried to kill each other. Thankfully neither succeeded. :rebel: :USA:
