Post by krinko » Sun Jul 13, 2008 8:45 pm

Took these out to the range today----StG 58/DSA FAL and a wee MAS 36.

The Rain Forest/Rifle Range.

Here's a close shot of the MAS for Adam.

I won't go into nonEnfield details, but it was a VERY good day.

(Must get in the SLR hours prior to possible Obamination.)

Have to say though that FAL is a poor second to the British SLR, Hate the bipod and the all metal fore end. A friend at the club here has an Austrian FAL which I have fired. Nice but not nice enough!! Still, wish I had one.

Two fine rifles, one has a certain functional and purposeful elegance, the other is just down right ugly.

I'm not annoyed, just envious.
The power of accurate observation is frequently called cynicism by those who don't have it.

Forgot to say that last week while 'replacing' my shotgun I found a very tatty MAS36 in 30-284W for 560€ / £446 / $895! I thought momentarily of Adam

There's nothing quite like having the real thing.

There's nothing quite like having the real thing.

I have a Century/Imbel frankenFAL that seems to be mostly Austrian parts. I am very happy with it. When I first got it I packed it off to Randy Kline out in Texas to have the muzzle threaded and he checked the whole thing over for me.

The first real test came in May when I shot in the RBGC FAL match which is half target and half action type with steel plates and windows and doors to shoot through. In the action stage I had 3 rounds left in my 5th magazine when I finished, That is 97 rounds fired in about 5 minutes and the rifle performed flawlessly.

Curtis did you get this debug error message when you sent the post?

"Failed sending email :: PHP ::

The post still goes up contrary to the message.
