Snider Enfield And The "Alpha/Omega Shoot"

Post by krinko » Mon Mar 16, 2009 11:06 pm

Fired the "Alpha/Omega Shoot" this last Sunday----that would be the ".577 Snider and the AR 5.7x28 Shoot" in plain language.
The Snider---an 1872 BSA two-band and all twelve of my cases, fresh out of the rinse water.

(The 5.7 was developed by FN because some Europeans will not now politely collapse after being shot with a .32 Auto. )

Snider went OK---used a spray-on Moly with Minies and no other lube, got dinner plate groups at 100 yards.
The 5.7 was fun too, but does not release smelly smoke clouds, nor frightening thunderclaps.

Sounds like a good day. I'd rather own the Snider :D

Merits and demerits about equally distributed between the two----the contrast between the beginning cartridge rifle and the current state of the art, contrast which is itself a third element created by the first two being conjoined---this adds a particular savor to the range day.
It's almost like Chinese food, in a way...

The Snider is Gentleman though.

The AR may empty a magazine into you for saying he isn't a Gentleman, but that won't make him one.
