HMT Rohna

Post by Miller Tyme » Tue Dec 03, 2013 5:34 pm

Last Tuesday marked the 70th anniversary of the sinking of the HMT Rohna which claimed the life of 1015 US servicemen, and if you add in the Red Cross workers and crew more people died on the HMT Rohna than the USS Arizona. My great uncle T/5 Harold R. Hamilton of the 853rd Engineer BN. Avn. Corps of Eng. was among those killed, he was on his way to India and over the hump to China to build B29 airfields.

The story of the sinking is quite fascinating and until recently the US goverment denied it ever happened.
