The D battery of the 2/4th was the battery I was paid by while attached to the 6/31st infantry and was the 6/31st main support battery. Of course by the time I had gotten to Vietnam in January of 1970, The 2/4th had been moved around from the 1st Brigade to the 3rd and the 1st and 2nd brigades had gone home...officially anyway. In any case, the 2/4th was the last 9th Division arty battalion of 105's that served in Vietnam.Davis joined the Army from Indianapolis, Indiana, in 1965. By November 18, 1967, he was serving as a private first class with Battery C, 2nd Battalion, 4th Artillery Regiment, 9th Infantry Division, in the Republic of Vietnam.[3]
