Veterans benefit budget ...April Fools Day

April Fools Day a hundred years go. I don't think they were fooling. The more veterans of an actual war that died the smaller the budget in those days. Little did they know that WWI was just around the corner.

Was the pension only given to Union soldiers or did it include the Southerners?????
Just wonder if the Union was that forgiving, kind of doubt it........... :roll:

No Federal pensions for Rebels. However , the former Confederate states did offer pensions.

Of my Dad's 2 grandfathers, one fought for North (Iowa) and other for South (South Carolina),
but no idea if either got a pension.
