Vern, they probably are going to make you pay for it if you want one. Like that cold war medal some years ago....remember that? Besides... there should be a combat artilleryman badge equal to the medic and infantry badges.. particularly for FO teams. But that'll never happen. And...how can anybody prove he was in combat anyway?
What constitutes "combat"? Firebase warriors who were on bases that had incoming at one time or the other? Does that count?
