Way back in '54,in Korea, our OD Chaplin was sounding off on one of his pet theorys. We were a captive audience, it was the rainy season and the Colonel had decided that a little moral guidance wouldn't go astray.
The gist of the Padre's remarks was that the first woman that one had sexual intercourse with was, in the eyes of God, one's wife---regardless of who one married thereafter, in whatever church..
"Pinky" Pinkerton muttered something loud enough that the Padre asked him what he'd said.
His reply brought the house down
"Geez! Padre, I've forgotten who me missus is!"
