Colonel Dowdy, in the course of time retired.

Then one day I spotted his name in a newspaper. He had just been ordained a priest in the Catholic Church.

That was unusual enough after a military career but as he was marred he became Australia's first married Catholic priest.

The last time that I heard of him, was in another newspaper, and he had just officiated at his daughter's wedding and there was a photo of him and the couple.
