D&C fixing bayonets

"THAT MAN, where is your MAGAZINE?"
Brings back some memories as the drill that I first learnt back in 1952 with the No1 was just about as illustrated for the long rifle.
I can still do it and I sometimes show off by doing standard drill and a few special bits that entail spinning the rifle around the left hand,then standing it on the left palm and giving it a smart hit on the butt to cause it to fall, catching at the pob and then going to the slope on the left shoulder.
From there it travels over the shoulder (grasped by the left hand at the butt plate) is grasped by the right hand, behind the back and brought smartly to the attention position.
Now don't go doing this with your best rifle
