Paul Tibbits, pilot in command of " Enola Gay" the B-29 that dropped the worlds first atomic bomb used in warfare passed today. He was 92.

I also read that some of the Japanese were sorry that he died before having a chance to apologize for dropping the bomb. HA!
He had over 60 years to do it, what made them think he was ever going to apologize. There was nothing to be sorry for he said, and he was right.
He did his job and it saved probably hundreds of thousands of American lives, the invasion of Japan was going to be a blood bath for both sides.
The American government has never apologized and Paul Warfield Tibbets Jr. never did either.

Sad news indeed,
I had the pleasure of meeting Col. Tibbets at a CAF airshow in St. Paul July 1999. I still have his autographed book, "Return of the Enola Gay".
He was a real gentleman and a hero in my eyes.
