I stumbled onto a website hosted by a guy who jumped into Normandy on D day and served throughout WWII with the 101st. He's written several books.... interesting histories from his personal memories of the war. Some of the titles are Currahee, Seven Roads to Hell, Beyond the Rhine. There are a few more and he even has a new one that hasn't been published yet. His name is Donald R. Burgett.
He follows his small forum and often comments on remarks people make.
I've read a couple of his books. Entertaining stuff. Oh, and by the way, his first book, Currahee, even had a liner note by Dwight Eisenhower promoting it. The only book of this kind that Eisenhower ever promoted.

I read "Currahee" shortly after I joined the Army in 1967. Excellent.
