I used to run QL 1 between Nha Trang & Dong Ba Thin, sometime on down to Cam Rahn Bay, in a gun jeep in the Sep - Nov 69 time frame escorting small convoys. Would you believe the dumb ass MPs used to set up speed traps along parts of that hwy! I guess they had to keep traffic at or below 35mph to give Charlie a chance to hit something. I never got below 50mph except for 2 almost 90 degree turns just before we got to the rubber plantation - which was the most likely place to get shot at.
