Memorial Day is a time to BBQ in the US or maybe go to the beach. Had a gathering and smoked some baby backs and drank a little beer and smoked a cigar. At the table my son said, " Dad, since you are the only veteran here, what do you think of today?" I just said while it's a day to remember those I knew who sadly enough didn't make it through Vietnam, at the same time, I celebrate the fact that I lived to see today and wasn't listed on the Wall".

Maybe our country will some day give up our present perpetual wars and no more soldiers will be added to the list of the dead until there is some real reason to fight to actually preserve our freedom. [My personal editorial comment of course. ]
