If you don't have the right ethnicity and someone shoves a flag in your face and pins it to your vehicle... you tend to get pissed ...and then we have an incident.

I would say he only had himself to blame for that problem......................

Being a man of the cloth it would seem he should have "turned the other cheek".

Most munition plant fatalities are caused by explosions. Somebody lighting a match in a powder room sort of thing. This accident was at least a different form of unforeseen circumstance. And ...nothing exploded.

US troops take the brunt of the first wave of the new offensive. The American 3rd Division holds under attack from nearly overwhelming numbers of Germans and earns it's ever after sobriquet of "Rock of the Marne". Although American newspapers wouldn't know this unit designation until probably the next war.

Teddy's youngest son is killed by German flyers. Teddy, one of the original war hawks, seems proud his son died for his country.

Everybody gets credit for the great war gains.....if they contribute to the tobacco fund. And the announcement comes with a "warning" too. Different from now days....but ....

Re: THE FIRST WORLD WAR as reported in the daily news
Sunday dinner back in the USA is a bit pricey for families averaging something like $29 a week in income. Oddly enough a broiling chicken averaged a few cents more a pound than a rib roast. Guess a rib roast was harder to cook in a wood stove and demand was less. Even the tougher "boiling" chicken was nearly up there with the rib roast.
Maybe if it had occurred to them to slice the roast between the ribs into rib eye steaks they could cook them easier than fried chicken and have a tasty meat dish.
