I got a book given at Christmas and inside had been left a small photo, about 3"X 2", of what I thought was a Ju 52 trimotor but on closer inspection today I realised it was a S M 73. This prompted me to do a little research on the registration number to see what and where it was from.
Turns out it was flown by the Belgian airline Sabena on the Brussels to Berlin route and it actually broke up in mid air over Soeste on 10th October 1938 with the loss of 16 passengers and 4 crew.
Fascinating what such a little photo can lead you to.

Interesting, as is the link; I have now added it to my 'collection'.
Many thanks.
