Planes in town.......
Well, the Collings Foundation planes are going to be in a town about 15 miles from
here later this week. They are bringing the B-17, B-24, and their 2-seat P-51 for
a stop on their annual country wide tour. They also have a B-25, but for whatever
reason is not on this stop. A few years ago I went for a ride in the B-24 when they
were in Tucson, and now am trying to decide if I want to spend the money to ride in
the B-17. It is a great experience, the bomber rides are $450 for a 30 minute ride
and the P-51, which has dual controls, is $2200 for 30 min. and $3200 for an hour.
You actually get to fly the P-51 a little, it's called a "flight instruction". But I'm afraid
the Mustang flight is more than my wallet can handle. Now I have to decide how much
I really want to ride in a B-17, and I really, really do...............
They have a lot more planes, but I think these 4 are the only ones that tour the country.
