That Ironclad Civil War ship model looks like the Tennessee which was the only Confederate ironclad at the battle of Mobile bay. Now days some specialized Navy ships a lot like the one in the image are built in Mobile ...by an Australian company.

The ironclad is actually a model of the C.S.S. Richmond. The Tennessee was 37' longer, but they looked about the same.

But now the sloped sides are for a different reason.............

Those look to be two different Ironclad models. Of course it's like a if you've seen one 57 Chevy you've seen them all kind of thing.

The Tennessee isn't exactly right. Those boats over the rear deck aren't right. I think ...from the only photograph.. it only had one small boat as captains gig or whatever and it was hung outboard and some thigh high or waist high protective things... bulkheads or whatever you call them. And that raised bit in the stern isn't right either.

I built a model of it once from assorted lumber years ago. It's in my garage housing rats and wasps and such.

From my own project....as near as I remember... there is the one photo of the vessel that exists. There aren't any of the actual iron clad that I know of in public domain. The description of the boat is written down in records as to length and width and various other details but there is no blue print. So it's like a room full of second graders drawing a picture of a cat and one is as good as another.

Yes, I didn't pay any attention to the 2nd ironclad, it is obviously a different ship. Top ironclad is Richmond and
bottom is Tennessee. And they did many modifications as time went on.

So let's see your ironclad model, Robert....

It's not a very good model....but I'm not a very good model builder. I showed this image some years ago in another post. Notice the propeller is off, the flag is hanging and it's not in very good shape.
